Whale Hello There

Today was Whale Day, and what a day it was!

We suited up and jumped onto a speedy RIB boat with two awesome marine biologists, ready to chase after the giants of the sea. The ride was wild, we flew over ocean swells, zipping across the water in search of humpback whales. With the mountains in the background, we spotted several whales surfacing for air, giving us perfect views of their flukes (tails) as they dove back down. Every time we saw a spout shoot into the air, our boat raced towards it, it was absolutely exhilarating!

The whole experience was unforgettable (we won’t name names, but yes, one of us cried 😅).

Afterward, we made our way toward Akureyri, but not before stopping at the stunning Goðafoss waterfall. We even snapped some photos of cool local birds hanging around the falls.

To no surprise to anyone we wrap up the day in a geothermal lagoon tucked into the forest, appropriately named Forest Lagoon. It was the perfect was to relax after an incredible, adventure-packed day.
