Today we spent the day exploring the coastal town of Akureyri. We went to some local cafes, explored the botanical gardens, and relaxed at the local heated pool. Eventually we settled into the van for the night. We peaked out the window and we saw the northern lights, we quickly hopped out, too eager to even put on shoes. With the tripod and camera set up, we watched bright green streaks of light dance across the sky. It was unbelievable; they seemed almost supernatural. We’ve seen them on this trip before but never so vibrant. We watched the light show for about an hour before the lights drifted away with the wind. It was unforgettable.
