Today we explored Húsavík, the charming little town known as the whale capital of Iceland, and it truly lived up to the name. As we drove in, we were immediately taken aback by the stunning landscape. Rolling farmland, towering mountains, and the endless stretch of sea all came together in a way that felt like a scene out of a storybook.

Húsavík may be small, but it’s full of character and warmth. Our first stop was the Whale Museum, where we learned so much about the different species that migrate through Iceland’s waters, a perfect way to prepare for our whale watching tour tomorrow!

For lunch, we decided to try the catch of the day at a cozy local restaurant. We still don’t know exactly what kind of fish it was, but it was absolutely delicious.

Afterward, we wandered through the harbor and around town, soaking in the peaceful atmosphere. A definite highlight was stepping into the iconic wooden church, Húsavíkurkirkja. Set right in the heart of town, it felt like a peaceful retreat, with its beautiful architecture and quiet interior.

Before the day ended, we popped into the local grocery store for a few essentials, then headed to GeoSea, Húsavík’s geothermal sea baths. Relaxing in the warm infinity pools with panoramic views of the ocean and snow-capped mountains was the perfect way to end the day. Pure magic.

Tomorrow we’re off to (hopefully!) see some whales up close. But for now, Húsavík has completely captured our hearts.
